"Seek and you shall find" is the perfect way for me to describe my experience with this book!

Before finding this gem of a book, I was reading several success books this year like "Success Principles" by Canfield, "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude" by Hill & Stone, "The Richest Man in Babylon" by Clason, "The Templeton Plan" by Sir Templeton, to name a few. One book led to another and I ended up with "Smart Couples Finish Rich" by David Bach, which led me to Graham’s "The Intelligent Investor". I first read Graham’s 1972 edition (thanks to LA public library) and was looking for more current examples, so I purchased the 2003 edition with commentaries by Jason Zweig, which proved to be a very worthwhile upgrade.

While looking up some things I didn’t understand online, I repeatedly came across the bogleheads forum, so I signed up as a free member and asked a question. The bogleheads were so helpful that I not only got my question answered, but also understood that the people there were genuinely trying to help. One of the bogleheads led me to a forum page which had book recommendations, so I purchased the kindle edition of this book.

And the moment I started reading the book, I knew this book had the answers for most of my questions. I finished reading it in two days! I just wanted to do this homework done asap and take care of my 401(K)s and IRAs. I had done a big timing mistake six years ago and went highly conservative (80% bonds, 10% stocks and 10% REITs). Luckily it was before the crash, so I had netted some profits, but I waited too long to get in to stocks again. Then I changed jobs and never paid attention!

I’ve worked with enough small businesses, and taken enough business and accounting classes in college, to notice that this book is a clear, helpful guide for small businesses to successfully keep track of their business.

Biafore not only starts from the ground up, but explains why you need to set up your business and enter transactions in a certain way to make the most of QuickBooks for your business.

She provides a good foundation in setting up the business initially, and makes it easy to understand. What I also liked was that she explained good accounting practices in an easy to understand manner. If businesses follow her advice, it will likely make it much easier for businesses to stay on top of their business, and have information at their fingertips to make decisions, and at tax time.

After trying to figure out what the author was talking about with the appearance of the QuickBooks Dashboard (which did not look anything like the dashboard on the Online Plus Subscription I purchased this past week and have been struggling to get up and running for 2015) I arrived at this pink warning box about 15 pages into the kindle version I had just spent about 16 bucks to download: WARNING QUICKBOOKS FOR MAC AND QUICKBOOKS ONLINE BOTH DIFFER SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE WINDOWS VERSION OF THE PROGRAM, SO THIS BOOK ISN’T MEANT TO BE A GUIDE TO THE MAC VERSION OR QUICKBOOKS ONLINE. So, my dumb question is: Why the heck couldn’t that warning appear in the DESCRIPTION for the manual, since there’s NO REFUNDS on the DIGITAL products? If you are using one of the desktop Windows versions of QuickBooks, this might be what you are looking for. But if you are going to use the ONLINE version, CAVEAT EMPTOR! What a RIPOFF!

I have used QuickBooks for years and years (if pressed, I literally could not even tell you when I first began relying on it). I always thought it it was fairly intuitive (of course, it has had a few quirks and glitches through the years). And, I’ll be honest, when I saw this doorstop, I thought it was absolute overkill. Then, I started flipping through it. As it turns out, I have not been using QuickBooks to its fullest. I have already begun tinkering!!

These chapters are wonderfully, logically organized. If one has a single question, the answer is abundantly easy to locate. Likewise, this has been intensely edited. It is jargon-free and ANY layperson can follow these clear, explicit instructions.

I could imagine this manual priced considerably higher. In my opinion, this is a bargain.

Nearly anyone who relies on QuickBooks will find a new gem in here.

About the Author

N. Gregory Mankiw is Robert M. Beren Professor of Economics at Harvard University. He studied economics at Princeton University and MIT. Professor Mankiw is a prolific writer and a regular participant in academic and policy debates. His research includes work on price adjustment, consumer behavior, financial markets, monetary and fiscal policy, and economic growth. Buy an earlier edition! This is literally the same thing as Macro by Mankiw 3rd – 6th edition. Way too expensive.

Basic concepts, terms, acronyms and understanding of macroeconomics. Nothing fancy or jumps out at you, but interesting and important ideas and concepts that are essential for business, marketing, economics and trade.

I’ve never taken an Economics class before so I found this intermediate text to be too complex. I generally make straight A’s, but I am struggling to keep a C average in this class. We are using Aplia in conjunction with this text.

It is really an incredible publication with excellent flowing art. My favorite pictures are the fifteen delicate doily type pictures and because of 46 pictures I just noticed three or more that I would not need to in my opinion color.
